A DAY OF A NEW STUDENT IN TUT

By: Zanele Mfaba

It was on the 05th of November when I got familiar with the walls and people of the Tshwane University of Technology.

It was nerve wrecking for me because it was not just an ordinary day but it was one that was preparing me for the world I believe. I had applied for Journalism and through my well deserving APS Score, I was appointed to come and write a selection test and an interview was to be conducted. When coming I had no much expectations to be honest but all I was praying is to be regarded as a 2022 TUT student.

I got into the test room, did my thing I believe and it took me about an hour to know if I can get to the next round which involves "thee interview". I remember it was my now Broadcast Journalism Lecturer Mr. Baloyi who gave us the results, saying we had passed the test. After all that came the time for the interview which was conducted by my now Print Journalism Lecturer Mr. Snyders.

I had a great time in that office because it felt like I was conversating with a friend, no pressure did I feel and no formality was mainly in place. He made it a walk in the park and every time I am in class I feel the very same energy I felt that day.

Moving on with my day I then took a taxi heading back to my hometown in Vaal and yes, I kept on wondering if I had done good. I would not say this was the greatest day of my life but it was indeed a good day at the Tshwane University of Technology.
